GRADE THREE

I am so impressed with the way in which my students have started their Grade 3 year with confidence and manners. They have shown great organisational skills and have leapt into their learning with enthusiasm!

In English this term, we focussed on Narratives and looked at structure of a narrative and extended our vocabulary to write interesting stories. In Numeracy, we were learning about addition and subtraction strategies. We all know about place value now. Our class has budding Mathematicians who are being exposed to various strategies for adding numbers. They are utilising classroom aids such as number lines, and MAB blocks.

Students completed a project on ‘Healthy Foods’ during ICT and used different fonts and borders to present it. Grade 3 students have also been enjoying their P.E sessions with Shane.

Just a reminder that the grade 3 students will be sitting for the NAPLAN tests in term 2. It is important that they are regularly reading and completing activities on Reading Eggspress and Mathletics. It is important when reading with your child that you get them to retell the story and ask them questions related to what they have read in order to ensure they have understood what they have read. Your ongoing support and efforts are greatly appreciated.
